Jamestown Township Fire Department Stations 1 and 2 responded to a car fire off of 24th Ave. just south of Adams St.  A nearby homeowner of the area called in stating that a vehicle was on fire and very close to a building on commercial private property.  When JTFD units arrived on scene the vehicle was fully involved.  The fire was extinguished then reviewed and turned over to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department for further questioning relating to the situation.   All JTFD cleared and returned to there stations.  The vehicle was later towed away.

One Car P.I. Rollover Accident

Jamestown Township Fire & Rescue Department responded to a personal injury accident just north of Byron Rd. on 8th Ave.  This was a one car, one patient rollover accident with the driver needing to be assisted to vacate the vehicle as it was resting on its driver-side in the field.  After stabilizing the vehicle, the driver was removed and was turned over to AMR and taking to hospital for further care.  The scene was turned over to Ottawa County Sheriffs Department to control until a tow truck arrived for removal of truck from field.  JTFD units cleared and returned to stations.

Active Smoke Alarms Reported

12/18/12 – 7:15am

Jamestown Fire Department responded to a possible structure fire on Aiden Ct. after a call was received of active smoke detectors alarming.  The first units on scene investigated the home to find no smoke or fire.  After troubleshooting the system it was found that it was a caused by a faulty smoke detector.  Incoming units were cleared and all units returned to stations after a reset of the system was completed.

Possible Structure Fire

11/11/12 – 7:20pm

Jamestown Fire Department responded to a automatic fire alarm activation on Waler Drive for a possible structure fire.  First units on scene investigated the home to find no smoke or fire and that is was a false alarm trip of the automated system.  All units were cleared and returned to stations.

Damaged Gas Line

Jamestown Fire responded to a Gas Leak at just south of Riley St. and 24th Ave for a natural gas line that was hit by a automobile near a business.  JTFD controlled the scene as there was gas leaking near homes, businesses and traffic on 24th Ave..  DTE Energy was notified and when safe the scene was turned over to them for repair.  All JTFD units were cleared and returned to stations.

Unknown Brushfire

10/10/12 – 11:54pm

Jamestown Fire Department responded to the area of Quincy St. and 24th Ave. for a possible brush/wildfire called in by a homeowners and passing motorists. When units arrived on scene there was approximately 100′ area that was burning and causing a lot of smoke. The fire was knocked down and the cause was researched. At that point all units were cleared and returned to stations.

I-196 West Bound P.D. Accident

Jamestown Township Fire & Rescue Department responded to a unknown vehicle accident that was down in the median on west bound I-196 between 40th Ave and 48th Ave.  This was a down graded to a property damage only by Ottawa County Sheriff on the scene.  All units were cleared and returned to stations.
